Possible SIP bug when used with OpenSprinkler App - jgmtfia - 2020 Mar 21

Hello.  I have a open sprinkler system with an expander board.  I upgraded to Debian 10.3 and the latest git image of sip.  When I try to connect manually from the OpenSprinkler android app I see the following on the python console:

Code:
::ffff:192.168.5.157:43186 - - [19/Mar/2020 18:20:22] "HTTP/1.1 GET /jp"- 303 See Other
::ffff:192.168.5.157:43186 - - [19/Mar/2020 18:20:22] "HTTP/1.1 GET /login" - 200 OK
::ffff:192.168.5.157:43186 - - [19/Mar/2020 18:20:22] "HTTP/1.1 GET /jp"- 303 See Other
::ffff:192.168.5.157:43186 - - [19/Mar/2020 18:20:22] "HTTP/1.1 GET /login" - 200 OK
::ffff:192.168.5.157:43186 - - [19/Mar/2020 18:20:22] "HTTP/1.1 GET /jp"- 303 See Other
::ffff:192.168.5.157:43186 - - [19/Mar/2020 18:20:22] "HTTP/1.1 GET /login" - 200 OK
::ffff:192.168.5.157:43186 - - [19/Mar/2020 18:20:22] "HTTP/1.1 GET /jp" - 303 See Other
::ffff:192.168.5.157:43186 - - [19/Mar/2020 18:20:23] "HTTP/1.1 GET /login" - 200 OK

But get an unable to connect on the latest version of the app.

When I scan for a site from the app, it finds the right IP, but shows the firmware version of the site as 0.0.NaN

I am using version 4.0.23 of the SIP software from Git dated 2020-03-09 and the Feb 3, 2020 of the Android OpenSprinkler App.

As of version 4 of SIP is no longer compatible with the OpenSprinkler app.
This is due to a change in the format of irrigation program data. Also the OpenSprinkler app was never able to access SIP plugins.

SIP can be used on a mobile device from the web browser. You can make a shortcut for SIP on your android desktop.

Hi Dan,

Firstly, thank you for all the work you've done with coding and supporting this.  SIP is a fantastic and fairly reliable solution to have a fantastic irrigation controller that makes your neighbours' controllers seem like an abacus.  The ability to manage a zone while I'm standing in my yard is a really wonderful thing!

I just updated to version 4.0.28, which I'm really regretting.  I found that when my wife and I both have the app on our phones, hers tends to wipe all the station names when she opens the app and I had hopes that perhaps there would be a fix for this.  Is there a simple way to roll back to the version that works with the opensprinkler app without losing the config?  I certainly would have stayed on the old code since it usually works beautifully with the app unless there some security reason why I wouldn't want to use the App anymore.

Thanks so much for your help in advance.

Hi Kermudgen,
Just of curiosity, why do you want (and buy) an app for this application?
Also me and my wife control SIP4 from our phones, even when we are >1000 miles from home. We are very happy to use applications without an (usually spying) app.
Please note that I do not want you to change your mind about using the app but I am really curious why and what advantages there possibly are.

Kermudgen,

If you really want to roll back to SIP V3 you can use the following command from the SIP folder:
Code:
git reset --hard 61d3aed4296

Be aware that you will not be able to use any current plugins with the older version.

I would recommend that you at least try accessing SIP on your phone through the web browser as described above before rolling back. That will also work with V3.
